Ladies strip for a coffee cause
Date:3/08/2008
Written By:Laura
11 coffee farmers have taken their clothes off in a fit of passion - passion for the Hawaiian Kona bean, that is.

The lady farmers posed tastefully nude for a calendar to educate coffee drinkers about Hawaii's famous Kona bean, and encourage the sale of 100% Kona blends. The calendar includes eleven photos depicting idyllic scenes of farm life and coffee production.

The women, members of the Kona Coffee Farmer's Association, are protesting Hawaii State laws that allow the name 'Kona' to be used for blends that contain only 10% Kona beans. Kona growers fear these blends will disappoint coffee drinkers, and damage Hawaiian Kona's reputation as a prized gourmet coffee.

Here is the area where we help you stay up-to-date.

Coffee is one of those topics where everybody has an opinion. Finding a way to keep abreast of the news that shapes those opinions is one of the issues that face our company. We end up receiving quite an interesting flow of coffee related news articles from around the world each month.

You have two ways of accessing Gilkatho’s coffee news.

During the month we post interesting news articles to this News area to keep our customers and our internal staff up-to-date. Our staff are encouraged to submit articles which they think would be suitable for wider distribution. These articles are available on the website and can be ‘searched’ though the search engine.

At the end of each month we bundle up the most interesting articles and email them to our subscribers in our free newsletter – The Coffee Pot. The newsletter subscription is free and also often includes details of special offers available in your area. This method is suitable for busy people who do not always have the time to check back at the Gilkatho site.

Making these resources available through our website is a key part of our business – helping our clients stay up-to-date with the coffee world.
