The Calorie Count of Your Coffee . . .
Date:21/03/2007
Written By:Sian
While we may not realise it, up to 20% of an average Westerner’s daily calorie intake coming in the form of drinks consumed. A simple cup of unsweetened black coffee contains around 4 calories – barely enough to register on the daily calorie count, if you keep such a thing. Adding milk (full cream) won’t cause much concern, either, with the calorie count rising to around 15. When it’s the morning pick-me-up of a tall café latte made with skim milk, the count rise to 140 calories – not negligible, but hardly enough to cause concern to most reasonably healthy drinkers. It’s when we venture into the realm of ‘coffee drinks’ (the elaborate concoctions involving cream, flavours and sweeteners) that the number soar – the large frappucinos on offer at coffee chains can contain over 400 calories. Moral of the story? When it comes to ordering your daily dose, it pays to stick to a simple, skim milk (or milk-free) version.

Here is the area where we help you stay up-to-date.

Coffee is one of those topics where everybody has an opinion. Finding a way to keep abreast of the news that shapes those opinions is one of the issues that face our company. We end up receiving quite an interesting flow of coffee related news articles from around the world each month.

You have two ways of accessing Gilkatho’s coffee news.

During the month we post interesting news articles to this News area to keep our customers and our internal staff up-to-date. Our staff are encouraged to submit articles which they think would be suitable for wider distribution. These articles are available on the website and can be ‘searched’ though the search engine.

At the end of each month we bundle up the most interesting articles and email them to our subscribers in our free newsletter – The Coffee Pot. The newsletter subscription is free and also often includes details of special offers available in your area. This method is suitable for busy people who do not always have the time to check back at the Gilkatho site.

Making these resources available through our website is a key part of our business – helping our clients stay up-to-date with the coffee world.
