What Makes A Good Coffee Shop?
Date:9/04/2004
Written By:Jacques

Keri Carlson of the Minnesota Daily has compiled a list of five things that make a good coffee shop. Do Australian café patrons have the same priorities?

1. Cute barristas
Flirting is a pleasure all its own, but when there’s a chance you can get free coffee out of it, it’s the ultimate game for caffeine addicts.

2. Interesting customers
Sometimes the whole point of going to a coffee shop is to eavesdrop on other people’s conversations. So there better be some engaging people hanging out or else you’re stuck with a one-sided mobile phone conversation about whose turn it is to pick up Davy from soccer practice.

3. Ample seating
Coffee shops are all about lingering and hanging out. It’s hard to do that with a sore bum.

4. Good music
The kind of music that’s played can say a lot about a coffee shop. Be sure to avoid any shop playing syndicated corporate programming.

5. Low prices
Gourmet is good, but the black fuel is better if cheap.

Here is the area where we help you stay up-to-date.

Coffee is one of those topics where everybody has an opinion. Finding a way to keep abreast of the news that shapes those opinions is one of the issues that face our company. We end up receiving quite an interesting flow of coffee related news articles from around the world each month.

You have two ways of accessing Gilkatho’s coffee news.

During the month we post interesting news articles to this News area to keep our customers and our internal staff up-to-date. Our staff are encouraged to submit articles which they think would be suitable for wider distribution. These articles are available on the website and can be ‘searched’ though the search engine.

At the end of each month we bundle up the most interesting articles and email them to our subscribers in our free newsletter – The Coffee Pot. The newsletter subscription is free and also often includes details of special offers available in your area. This method is suitable for busy people who do not always have the time to check back at the Gilkatho site.

Making these resources available through our website is a key part of our business – helping our clients stay up-to-date with the coffee world.
